English Lutheran begins in-person worship again on July 12

English Lutheran Church, 111 Grove St., Bluffton,  will begin in-person worship again Sunday, July 12.

Worship, with COVID-19 social distancing seating and other precautions in effect, will take place simultaneously live in the sanctuary (face-masks required for ages 8 and up), and live-streamed on Facebook in the fellowship hall (face masks encouraged, but optional), beginning at 9 a.m. 

Those unable to attend in-person may follow us the service Facebook page. Please note that the church’s Sunday School program is still suspended.

Linda Burchett 1947 - 2020

Linda Marie Burchett, 73, died at 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Linda was born March 17, 1947, in Findlay, to the late Edward "Eddie" and Marcella "Sally" (Zechman) Riffle. On June 27,1969, she married Richard Burchett  who preceded her in death on Feb. 15, 1992. 

Linda was a graduate of Findlay High School. She enjoyed scrap booking, fishing, cooking and her cooking gadgets.

Summer is a great time to explore the art spread across the Bluffton community – especially for viewers unable to visit art galleries elsewhere in Ohio.

As a weekly series, The Icon will feature the art created by John Peter Klassen, a long-time Bluffton College art professor.

For some viewers, this series is familiar. For others, it may be a first-time experience.

ADA group focuses on covid-19 school safety

Collecting questions from the public: Ask Me Anything

FROM ADA ICON - Ada SAFE (Schools Are For Everyone) 2020 announces the beginning of “AMA: COVID Questions,” which will allow members of the community to ask questions related to the novel coronavirus and COVID-19.

These questions will then be answered by a panel of local experts from the fields of immunology, epidemiology, medicine, psychology, and public health. AMA stands for "Ask Me Anything."

Ada SAFE 2020 hopes that the videos that result from this project can provide vital information for all community members as Ada prepares for the opening of schools this fall.

One man killed in two-car accident in Ada on Thursday

FROM ADA ICON - A two-car accident Thursday evening (July 9) in Ada resulted in three persons hospitalized. One of the three died as a result of wounds that he appeared to suffer as a result of the accident.

The official Ada police statement follows:

On Thursday, July 9, at 6:12 p.m. officers of the Ada Police Department were dispatched to the scene of an injury accident on South Johnson Street and East Lehr Avenue.

Also responding were Ada-Liberty Township fire, Ada-Liberty EMS and Alger EMS.
