Meet the babies born at Bluffton Hospital in June and July

Here are births at Bluffton Hospital, given to the Icon, for June and July. Congratulations to all parents. 

June 26 - Jude Thaddeus, son of Jordan and Kayla Herrera of Bluffton.

July 3 - Samuel James, son of Ronnie and Kaliegh Hines of Kenton.

July 6 - McKenna Ruby, daughter of Anthoy and Candace Myers of Beaverdam.

July 6 - Benjamin, son of Alan and Meagan Brickner of Ottawa.

July 10 - Aubrey Anne, daughter of Travis and Ashley August of Bluffton.

July 25 - Evelynn Ann, daughter of Brett and BriAnna Ybarra of Fostoria.

Educational rights topic of library program Aug. 13

Presentation by Legal Aid of Western Ohio

A free program on educational rights take place at 6 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, at the Bluffton Public Library.

It is of special interest to parents of school-aged children. Legal Aid of Ohio will present the free educational rights program.

Registrants will receive a broad overview of parental rights regarding various school-related topics with time for questions to follow.

Summer Camp Bluffton

Bluffton University is host to many high school camps each summer. Last month included several weeks of band camps. In recent weeks several soccer and football camps took place on campus. Here's a girls' soccer camps practicing on the Elm Street field.

Danielle Novak, BHS senior, has perfect ACT score

In the class of 2018 only 3,741 out of more than 1.9 million graduates who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36

Danielle Novak, daughter of Mark and Jeanne Novak, granddaughter of Norma Sommer, and a senior at Bluffton High School earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36.

Only around two-tenths of 1 percent of students who take the ACT earn a top score. In the U.S. high school graduating class of 2018, only 3,741 out of more than 1.9 million graduates who took the ACT earned a top composite score of 36.

What's your favorite board game?

Senior Center board game night on Aug. 12

It’s game night at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center on Monday, Aug 12.

The senior citizens association’s August dinner meeting program, at 6 p.m., on  game night and several familiar board games will be on the tables.

The dinner meeting is catered by The Dough Hook and the menu is sandwiches, salads and cookies. Tickets are $6.50 and reservations are needed by Wednesday, Aug. 7.

Barb Nusbaum is the dinner host and Bev. Armstrong is the master of ceremonies.
