Next Gardeners meeting is June 4

Discussing native plants

The Gardeners of the Bluffton-Pandora Area hold their next meeting on Tuesday, June 4, at the Bluffton Public Library, lower level meeting room at 6:30 p.m. Dave McPheron will be speaking on native (indigenous) plants. McPheron is the Volunteer Coordinator of the Hardin County Master Gardener Volunteers, as well as running a native plant nursery for the area.

This meeting is open to the public.

Community screening and wellness day June 22

The Armes Family Cancer Care Center, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System, will offer a community screening and wellness day event on Saturday, June 22, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Several health screenings will be offered at this event, which will take place at The Armes Family Cancer Care Center located at 15990 Medical Drive South in Findlay.

Skin, head and neck cancer screenings will be available by appointment only and can be scheduled by calling 419.429.6428.

Bluffton Black girls' U11 division champs - travel team tryouts tonight

Bluffton Black Girls' U11 travel soccer team won their league division. The girls are in Division 1 and this is their second year in a row winning their division.

Bluffton Black girls will move up to U12 this fall.

Travel soccer try outs are tonight (Thurday, May 30) at Bluffton village park.
• U9-U10: 6 -7 p.m.
• U11-U15: 7-8 p.m.
• In case of rain try-outs will be moved to BFR.

Summer Sounds Choral Camp registration underway

Noteworthy Community Choir's first-ever camp for kids - July 15-19

"Noteworthy Community Choir is accepting registrations for its first-ever Summer Sounds Choral Camp for kids who love to sing," says Vicki Mills.

Here's how it works:
From July 15 to July 19, 1st through 8th graders participate in singing and movement experiences, weaving a high-quality choral music experience with fun musical activities and camp friendships.

Glove factory getting ready to house Et Cetera Shop

The old Peerless Glove factory transformation into the new Et Cetera Shop is well under way. 

The project is about half done and on schedule for a mid-August completion.  Most rehabilitation of the building is done.  Machinery has been removed. floors have been reinforced, pipes replaced, and antiquated restrooms torn out.  The “tear-out” and structural rehabilitation phase is largely done, with few surprises.

BFR summer camp starts Monday

Still room for additional campers

Bluffton Family Recreation summer camp begins on Monday and there's still room for additional campers, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director. Registration is now available by calling BFR at 419-358-4150.

This year's camp has several new features:
• a preschool camp offered one day each week for children 3 to 6
• Bluffton Hospital will provide campers lunch on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday
