Bluffton students report on study experiences off campus

Bluffton University students will report on their Fall 2015 semester experience studies in Guatemala, Washington D.C., England and Ireland during two Forums on Tuesday, Feb. 9.
 
The first session will be held at 11 a.m. in Founders Hall. This presentation will feature students who studied in Guatemala. The second presentation will be held at 7 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall. Students who studied in Washington D.C., England and Ireland will share their experiences during this time.
 
These events are free and open to the public.
 

Sign up your 4th-5th-6th grade bball team for tourney action

Bluffton Family Recreation will hold elementary-age boys’ and girls’ basketball tournaments this winter, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
 
A fourth grade boys’ tournament is Saturday, Feb. 20. It is a double-elimination tournament with a limit of six teams. Games will be at BFR.
 
A fourth grade girls’ tournament is Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28. It will involve 10 teams and three games are guaranteed to each team. Games will be at BFR.
 

Friesen to discuss "Framing of Food" in colloquium

Dr. Matthew Friesen, assistant professor of sociology, will present the colloquium, "When Did Organic Become Weird?: Hegemonic Framing of Food,” on Friday, Feb. 12. Friesen will discuss how companies, the government and other organizations can influence people’s decisions about purchasing food. 

His presentation is free and open to the public, at 4 p.m. in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.

Short month but long list of activities at Bluffton Public Library

February is a short month but lots of events are planned at the Bluffton Public Library.

Here's the schedule:
 • Visit Bluffton Public Library for Coloring Therapy events on Feb. 1 at 6 p.m.,  Feb. 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., and Feb. 17 at 3:30 p.m. For this informal program, BPL will offer coloring pages, coloring utensils, and a quiet space.

• Winter Storytime continues Mondays, Feb. 1, 8, and 22 at 6:30 p.m., or Tuesdays, Feb. 2, 9, 16, and 23 at 10 a.m. Registration is required and spots may be full.
