Texas Roadhouse gift cards now available through BFR

The annual Texas Roadhouse Restaurant holiday fundraiser is now underway at BFR Sports and Fitness. 

Gift Cards with values of $15, $25 and $50 are on hand in limited supply; large orders can be pre-paid and picked up at the Bluffton facility. The cards may be used at any Texas Roadhouse restaurant in the United States. 

BFR receives 10% of the total value of sales. Cards will be available through Dec. Contact BFR by calling 419-358-4150 for more information.

Bourassa family hosts spaghetti dinner to raise money for Philippines typhoon relief

It was a gut instinct that Mark and Jackie Bourassa went with in 1997 when they adopted their first of three children from the Philippines. And since then, they have maintained a strong connection with the islands and its peoples. Now, their family feels called to do something to help with the on-going relief from the Nov. 7 typhoon.

Library board holds special meeting Dec. 10

The Bluffton Public Library Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 10, at 6:30 p.m. for the purpose of hiring personnel.

The board will hold its annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2014, at 6:30 p.m. The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers, set the 2014 meeting schedule and approve temporary authorizations for 2014.

Bluffton "decked the halls and the farm" at Saturday's Blaze - huge crowd watches parade

Steve Rodabaugh, Dan Basinger and Dan Stanowick play the roles of Fred Rodabaugh, Larry Badertscher and Roger Mullenhour in Saturday's premier performance of "Deck the Farm."

The production, by Pat Rodabaugh, provided a capsulized version of the story of the Ream Christmas display.

With temperatures reaching 47 degrees during the late afternoon parade, this year's Blaze drew a crowd estimated at 3,000-plus. At many points along the parade route, the crowd was five people deep.

LaVera Neufeld was missionary in Congo; volunteered in several Bluffton organizations

LaVera  Neufeld died on Dec. 1, 2013, at Frieda House, Bluffton, Ohio. She was born Sept. 26, 1927, in Inman, Kan., the second of five children born to Curt and Sarah Androes Regehr. The family moved to Dalhart, Texas, for several years during the Dust Bowl, but later returned to Inman. 

She attended West Eagle and Welcome rural schools, often riding the family horse, Blackie. LaVera and her cousin, Lilly Ann Regehr, were driven to high school by Elmer Neufeld and his brother, Herb.
