The following results are from October 30-November 5 of the Bluffton University Fall 2024 athletics season:

Cross country at HCAC Championships

Football against Hanover, 49-13 loss

Men's soccer against Transylvania, 5-1 loss

Rev. Matthew Yoder, pastor of Grace Mennonite Church, Pandora, Ohio, came to Bluffton University the week of Oct. 28, 2024, for fall semester’s Spiritual Life Week. Yoder provided the Forum and Chapel messages and worked with students as they explored Ephesians 6:10-18 and the theme “Put on the Armor of God.”

“Often when we are shielded by God’s armor, we don’t even realize,” said Haylie Lero, senior pastoral assistant. “This Spiritual Life Week is about being purposeful about using God’s armor, especially the word of God.”

November 7, 2024 

Lima Refining Company is responding to a release of gasoline vapors from a tank vent, which  contributed to benzene readings in an isolated area for a short time. Shawnee Township Fire  Department and EMA are on scene. 

As a precautionary measure, community members were asked to avoid Buckeye Road. That road has since been opened.  

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will provide Veterans Day ceremonies and activities on November 11, 2024.

7:45 a.m.,  Bluffton High School
Post 382 will hold a flag retirement (burning) ceremony. Commander Kurt Emans will speak to students about Veterans Day, and about activities for the day.

1:30 p.m., Mennonite Memorial Home 
Post members will meet the resident Veterans in the Chapel.

2:30 p.m. Maple Crest
Post members will meet the resident Veterans in the Patio room.

Noon on Tuesday, November 19 at Bluffton Town Hall

Bluffton resident Bob Antibus, who has been a Johnny Appleseed Metropolitan District Board Commissioner for 32 years, will provide a program on local parks for the November 19 meeting of the Bluffton Lions Club. The program is free and open to the public.

Antibus is Emeritus Professor of Biology at Bluffton University. Prior to her passing, his wife Joanne Antibus was a science teacher at Bluffton High School and served on the Bluffton Tree Commission for many years.
