Parents are Crystal Bennett formerly of Bluffton and Andrew Kirtland. Maternal grandparents are Cheryl and Steve McFadden. Maternal great-grandparents are Al and Mildred Ingalls.
Lesa Melton of Mt. Cory is the June 2010 employee of the month at Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio.
She has worked at the Mennonite Memorial Home as STNA since 2007. She mainly works third shift, but is always willing to come and help out when needed, picking up other shifts or extra hours.
Her supervisor says she is very helpful, puts residents needs first, and is always on time. Other employees commented on how she has a positive attitude and are thankful for her extra help in times of need.
Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio has announced Allison Vermillion of Ada and Catherine Meyer of Jenera are recipients of this year's Barbara Fleming Scholarship.
This scholarship goes to students pursuing a career in nursing. This is the ninth year that this scholarship has been presented. It was founded by her family in honor of Barbara Fleming, a nurse and resident of the Mennonite Memorial Home. This year the committee was able to give away two $500 nursing scholarship.
On May 28, 44 kindergartners, from the two afternoon classes at Bluffton Elementary School, were invited to Maple Crest for an intergenerational activity, in honor of Older Americans' Month. Click here for more photos.

Bluffton Public Library will be closed July 2, 3 and 5 for a system upgrade and the Independence Day holiday. Due dates for library materials will be adjusted accordingly.

A benefit to assist with medical expenses involving a kidney transplant for Bluffton resident Jim Ream is planned from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday, June 19, in the Bluffton middle school.
Ream of 212 S. Main St., lost his first kidney when he was 26. He is currently on dialysis three days a week. He has passed all testing required to have a transplant and has a possible donor.
The fundraiser is planned to help offset the costs of having the transplant completed and for any future expenses that might occur.
Nick Prater's shirt reads "What A Catch!" Nick caught the largest fist at the Bluffton Cub Scout Fishing Derby, held on Saturday, June 12 at the Buckeye.
Nick caught a 6.5-pound, 24-inch-long carp with artificial bait on his Sponge Bob Square Pants fishing pole. From 9 a.m. to noon, 23 cub scouts, 3 boy scouts, 9 scout leaders and 29 other family members (siblings, parents and grandparents) had a fun morning of fishing.
The Bluffton Sportsmen's Club gave the scouts and their families fishing badges for the day's event.
Dunking booths are so much fun, and such a good fund raiser, and we are going to have one at the Relay For Life event this year. The thing about dunking booths is you need people to dunk!
