Kenneth Lee Stucky, 81, of Pandora, died at 7:35 p.m. July 16, 2011 at his residence. He was born March 12, 1930 in Van Nuys, Calif., to Kenneth E. and Alice M. Shank Stucky. The family was part of the Van Nuys Missionary Church from Ken's earliest days. On Jan. 25, 1952 he married Betty Wolmerstett and she survives.
Bruce Edward Downey, 65, of Put-in-Bay, Ohio, and Las Vegas, Nev., died at 9:17 a.m. July 14, 2011 at Magruder Hospital, Port Clinton, following a sudden illness. He was born on March 5, 1946 in Lima to Marion and Mary Elizabeth Amstutz Downey.
Bruce retired from the Lucas County Housing Authority, and had also worked for the State of Ohio and British Petroleum. He was a 1964 graduate of Lafayette-Jackson High School, Stautzenberger College, Toledo, and served in the Marine Corps Reserves.
O. Geniece King, 82 of Bluffton died at 4:39 a.m. July 14, 2011 at Mt. Carmel East Hospital, Columbus. She was born Aug. 8, 1928, in Mt. Cory to Stanley and Vera Beuchler Wagner. On June 28, 1947 she married Robert King and he preceded her in death on Feb. 27, 1984.
Mrs. King retired as cafeteria manager at the Bluffton schools after 31 years. She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ, Bluffton, the Bluffton Senior Citizens, member of the S.H.A.N.N.O.N. Club, and a volunteer at Bluffton Hospital. She was a 1946 graduate of Mt. Cory High School.
"Julie and Julia" is the next movie on the Bluffton Public Library's summer film festival. The movie will be shown at 2 p.m., Monday, July 18, at the library.
An after-hours pool party fundraiser is planned for the Brockert/Mikesell families at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool from 6 to 9 p.m., Sunday, July 17.
Admission is $3 a person (sorry, pool passes not accepted). Donations are being accepted. Pizza will be available for sale. A silent auction is also part of the event.
All proceeds from the event go to the Brockert/Mikesell families.
The Mennonite Memorial Home is needing a Mobile Meal driver. This volunteer position is for just one day, on the second Monday of each month.
The Mobile Mealdriver would deliver meals at 11:30 a.m.. Meals are delivered to those living within the village. To volunteer for this position, please contact Mary Ann Ring, Volunteer Coordinator, at 419.358.1015.
