Have you checked your calendar? It's that time again. Bluffton observes trick-or-treat on Thursday, Oct. 25. The witching hour is from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Ding, dong...sorry, got to go. Someone's at the door. If I'm not mistaken, it's the Diller children from next door.

Other locations handing out treats

Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., will accept Halloweeners from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

The Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., will accept Halloweeners from 6 to 7 p.m. in the lobby.

The Icon spotted this plate outside Bluffton High School. Looks like someone from BGSU is on a recruiting mission.

COMMON GROUNDS NOW ROASTING ITS OWN COFFEE

Talk to Phil Zimmerly long enough and you’ll learn something about coffee. For example, coffee is a tree. Beans are really seeds. The pits are what you end up with to make coffee.

I know this because Phil told me. Our conversation took place as he shared with me his secrets of roasting coffee – a skill he mastered this summer.

Icon viewers:

Have you seen my arborvitae flower in a cedar box (see photo)?

While we were in Maine it was stolen from our parking lot. It had to have taken two people because it is at least 150 lbs. And it is a $275.-$300 item, one of a kind.

If you have seen this arborvitae flower in a cedar box,  please call 419-358-6950 or the Sheriff at 419-227-3535.

I have already called the Sheriff so I have filed a report on the item.

There will be a mandatory winter sports meeting for athletes (grades 7-12) and their parents Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the Bluffton High School gym, beginning at 7 p.m. according to Alex Hanna, BHS athletic director.

The production of The Mad River Theater Works musical drama "Anabel" on Oct. 27 at First Mennonite Church has been cancelled due to an illness of a cast member.

The drama was announced previously on The Icon.
