A pair of Bluffton University men's soccer players were honored for their work on the pitch in 2012. Sophomore Jordan Andrews (Clinton Township, Mich./Chippewa Valley) and freshman Ryan Johnson-Evers (Muskego, Wis./Muskego) both earned Second Team All-Heartland Conference acclaim.
Jordan Andrews moved up to the midfield after playing primarily as a defender during his freshman campaign. He was one of just four Beavers to start all 16 matches in 2012. Andrews fired 13 shots, placing three on frame. He has started all 34 contests in his two years at Bluffton.
Bluffton's Thomas Gingrich (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) was recently named Academic All-District by CoSida. Gingrich, a senior offensive lineman, was named first team All-District. He was one of just five Heartland Conference football players to be honored in District 7.

Tom and Ruth Ann Robinson will speak lead a "Marriage Tune-up" two-day seminar Friday and Saturday, Nov. 9 and 10 at St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora. They will share insightful tips and skills to help couples renew their marriages.
The sessions will be filled with laughter, DVD clips that give a new perspective on marriage and teaching of the new ways of dealing with long term patterns. They will also answer questions.
Bluffton University’s creative arts programs converged on Yoder Recital Hall on Nov. 6 for “The Arts at Bluffton,” a forum featuring art, music, creative writing and theatre on campus.
Gregg Luginbuhl (background), a professor and chair of the art department, created ceramic pots throughout the program, while Philip Sugden (foreground), an assistant professor, worked on a charcoal drawing.
Joining them on stage here for a piano solo is Dr. Lucia Unrau, a professor and chair of music.
The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will observe Veterans Day several times between Friday and Sunday.
Programs are planned at the Mennonite Memorial Home at 1 p.m. and Maple Crest at 1 p.m., on Friday Nov. 9. Then, the Legion will visit Richland Manor at 2:30 p.m. Sunday Nov. 11.
In a program at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Larry Core and Tom Craig will show Blufton fourth graders how to properly fold the American flag. They will tell fourth graders what each fold of the flag means. Here are those symbols:
The Bluffton Public Library Teen Book Club will discuss J.R.R. Tolkien’s book The Hobbit in the Youth Activity Room on Thursday, Nov. 29, at 3:30 p.m. Copies of the book are available for check-out at Bluffton Public Library, 145 S. Main St., Bluffton for teens age 12-18.
