Bluffton’s Barberettes will be presenting a Christmas program at four area senior living facilities in December.

Here's the schedule:

Dec. 3 – Richland Manor
Dec. 7 -  Hilty Home
Dec. 10 – Mennonite Memorial Home
Dec. 14 – Maple Crest.

All concerts begin at 6:30 p.m. and the public is invited to the Maple Crest program on Dec. 14. It takes place in the Patio Room.

Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Rise of the Guardians" (PG) and will be shown at the theatre from November 30 - December 6.

Show times are every evening at 7:00 and 9:30 PM with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 and 4:00 PM. All shows are 2D.

 

It was 11 a.m., not 11:30 p.m., but Nov. 27 at Bluffton University, it was, nonetheless, “Late Night with Student Life: Live from Founders Hall.”

The university’s weekly Forum became the setting for a talk show-like look at student life on campus through the decades.

Here, residence life director Jackie Wells (with papers) plays Catch Phrase, trying to elicit words and phrases associated with the 2000s from student partner Lawrence Ervin, a junior from Cincinnati.

Several events are scheduled in December at Bluffton University.  Events are free and open to the public unless noted otherwise.

Dec. 2  Christmas Choral Concert: “A Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols,” 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m., Yoder Recital Hall.

First Mennonite Church, Bluffton,  held a “Hymnal Celebration/Chairity Event” at the church on Nov. 11. It was an evening of music presented by a variety of groups, including its adult choir, piano, dulcimer, trumpet, string quartet, guitar by children, youth and adults. The evening included singing by the congregation.

Blanchard Valley Regional Cancer Center (BVRCC) is hosting a series of American Cancer Society “I Can Cope®” events that will be held from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Birchaven Club House, 15100 Birchaven Lane, Findlay.

The Bluffton University women's basketball team used a dominating performance from junior post Lauren Hutton (New Reigel) to spank Oberlin College 74-53 on Tuesday, Nov. 27, in the Beavers' first game away from the Sommer Center.

The beat rolled on for Bluffton as the visitors moved to 4-0 for the first time since the 1991-92 campaign. Oberlin lost for just the second time in six games.

The home team scored first a minute into the contest and led 6-3 before Bluffton ran off nine straight points and never trailed again.

Bluffton residents are invited to enter this year’s Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce residential Christmas lighting contest.

Here’s how it works:

The contest is open to any residence within the Village of Bluffton corporation limits.  The corporation expanded this year, so, for example,  residents on Dixie Highway south to and Southgate Lanes are now eligible to enter the contest.

Christmas at Apollo Craft Show is being held on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 9 a.m.- 3 p.m.  Admission is $2, children under 12 are free.  Lunch will be available.

The Craft Show features over 150 crafters. In addition to one of the largest selections of crafts around, the floral students at Apollo will have many arrangements that will be for sale in Apollo's Floral Shop during the show.

All proceeds are used to support Apollo student club community service projects. Apollo has several student clubs including: HOSA,  BPA, FCCLA, Student Council, FFA, and Skills USA.
