Two alumni and a former sports information director (SID) comprise the Bluffton University Athletics Hall of Fame class of 2013-14.
Becky (Reineke ’98) Boblitt has been selected for her achievements in basketball and soccer, while Bill Lape, a 1962 graduate, is being honored for his Bluffton football career. They will be inducted alongside Ron Geiser, who performed SID duties during parts of four decades, on Jan. 25 in Marbeck Center.
Thanks for an expanded Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce residential lighting contest, more residential lights are displayed and more winners are rewarded.
Five new lighting categories were added to the residential contest this year to encourage residents to really make Bluffton a blaze of lights.

Using a book as a metaphor, you could say that the final chapter of Cindy Chasse’s story as director of Bluffton Public Library concluded on Saturday.
Chasse’s last day as director of the Bluffton Public Library was Saturday, although technically she retires on Dec. 21. She held the position since September 2009.
During Chasse’s four years as director, the Bluffton Public Library survived significant budget cuts from the state. To counter those cuts Chasse developed several fundraisers to create awareness of the library’s financial needs to its patrons.

The Swiss Community Historical Society is celebrating the Christmas season by hosting its annual holiday open house, “Christmas at the Homestead,” on Saturday, Dec. 14, from 1 to 7 p.m.
The public is invited to tour the decorated house while snacking on homemade treats and listening to songs of the season.

The Bluffton University Track and Field team opened its 2013-14 campaign at the University of Findlay Oiler Open on Friday and Saturday, December 6 and 7. In a field of predominately Division I and II schools, the Beavers captured two event wins, set personal and school records and met the qualifying standards in several events for the HCAC Indoor Championship to be held in late February.
