Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs has announced prize money and seminar dates its 2014 Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition.

First place prize is $5,000 in business start-up costs and a one-year BCE client program membership. Second place is $1,000 in start-up costs and a one-year BCE client program membership. Third place is a one-year BCE client program membership.

Here's a Christmas gift idea from the Village of Bluffton. Swimming pool season passes for 2014 are available in December at a 10 percent discount.

Four different types of swimming pool season passes will be available for the 2014 season:  Senior Single, Senior Couple, Single, and Family-Basic.  

Passes purchased before Dec. 31, 2013 are eligible for a 10% discount. Passes are avialable in the Bluffton town hall office. For questions, call 419-358-2066.

Bluffton High School's November student of the month is Olivia Sneary.

She is the daughter of Dan Sneary of Bluffton and Cyndee Sneary of Bluffton.
Olivia is a junior and is 4.000 student.

She is involved in Math Club, Latin Club, National Honor Society, Junior Vice President, Student Senate Vice President, National Latin Honor Society, is a HOBY alumni and is a member of the NWC Sportsmanship committee. She is employed at Bluffton Community Markets, and is a tutor. She is a member of the BHS Softball and power lifting teams.

Sgt. Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton Police Department provided The Icon with the Bluffton Police Department November public docket.

Carols, Candlelight, and the Christ Child will be the theme of the Christmas Candlelight Services at the Pandora United Methodist Church, 108 E.Washington St. (State Route 12) in Pandora. 

There is an early service on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. (music begins at 6:30 p.m.) for those who will be out of the area on Christmas Eve and for those who prefer a service earlier in the evening. 

The Christmas Eve Candlelight service will be Tuesday, Dec. 24 at 9 p.m. (music begins at 8:30 p.m.). 

"Heaven Came Down," a display of angels and nativity scenes has one final showing of the year. The display at at the Bethel Family Life Center, Mt. Cory United Methodist Church. The display is open Saturday, Dec. 14, from noon to 4 p.m. on 201 W. Washington St., Mt Cory. The display is free and open to the public.

Bluffton University football standout Shawn Frost (Mt. Gilead/Edison) has been selected to play in the D3 Senior Classic on Friday, Dec. 13, in Salem, VA. The senior standout who was named First Team All-HCAC and is a two-time Academic All-HCAC honoree will put his talents on display for a national audience Friday night at 7 p.m. This recognition comes on the heels of his one-handed touchdown grab against Earlham being named the Heartland Conference Play of the Year.
