Northwest Conference cross country meet - Bluffton's Jacob Barnett ran the best individual time of 17:00 in winning the boys' race and was voted by the coaches as NWC Male Runner of the Year. Boone Brubaker (CG; 17:04) finished second with Austin Elick (LV, 17:12) completing the race as the third place finisher.

4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts
1/2 c. Dijon mustard
1/4 c. maple syrup
1 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
Salt and pepper
Rosemary
Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a small bowl mix mustard, syrup and vinegar.
Place chicken breast into 9 by 13-inch baking dish. Season with salt and pepper. Pour mustard mixture over chicken, covering each piece.
Local chainsaw carver and University of Findlay alumnus John Guagenti will be carving during the Rieck Center for Habitat Studies’ fall public open house, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25, beginning at noon, in Findlay.
Stanley Scott, Bluffton University adjunct faculty member, will moderate the Bluffton mayoral candidate forum on Wednesday, Oct. 28, according to the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce, forum sponsor.
The forum, open to the public, originally scheduled for the Bluffton town hall, has moved to the Bluffton Middle School cafetorium to allow for a larger audience than the town hall can accommodate. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the forum starts at 7:30 p.m.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton Beavers welcomed Earlham College to Salzman Stadium for another HCAC bout on Saturday, Oct. 17. The Quakers entered the game with an 0-6 record and they stayed winless, falling to 0-7 overall and 0-5 in the conference. The Beavers took advantage of a reeling Earlham team and boosted their record back to .500, reaching 3-3 overall and 2-2 in the HCAC. The game was one-sided in a 51-20 victory for the home team.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. - Bluffton entered day two of the Midwest Invitational with a matchup against the #16 Blue Jays of Elmhurst. Bluffton went out to a solid start in set one, out-hitting the Blue Jays .268 to .182 on the way to a 25-23 victory.
FRANKLIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s soccer team traveled to face the Franklin College Grizzlies in a rare HCAC Saturday night matchup on October 17. While there were a bevy of shots taken, after two overtimes and 110 minutes the result was a scoreless tie. A second straight deadlock propelled the Beavers to a 0-11-2 mark, while the Grizzlies stand 5-7-2.
FRANKLIN, Ohio - The Bluffton University women’s soccer team traveled to face Franklin College and fell in a heartbreaker on Saturday, Oct. 17. A couple late Grizzly goals dropped the Beavers to 6-8 overall and 2-3 in the Heartland Conference. Franklin improves to 12-1 on the season and stays undefeated in the HCAC at 5-0.
