Robert Kreider of North Newton, Kansas, died at 4 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 27. He is a former president of Bluffton College. Funeral arrangements are incomplete.
Donald Guy Sterrett, 59, of Bluffton died at 12:40 p.m., Dec. 25, 2015, at Lima Memorial Health System. Donald was born Nov. 11, 1956, in Lima to the late Cyril and Dorothy Bockey Sterrett. On Dec. 1, 1979 he married Lynda Badertscher Sterrett and she survives.
Don was an electrical supervisor at Materion Brush, Elmore. He attended Lima Community Church of the Nazarene. He was a graduate of Lima Central Catholic High School and Owens Tech. College.

Advisory: The NWS has issued a flash flood watch. Those along the Riley Creek should consider necessary precautions and actions.
The NWS has issued a flash flood watch for our area. The heaviest rain will likely be late tonight and overnight, making it difficult to determine and/orestimate potential impacts.
We encourage those located near and along the Riley Creek to consider moving items to higher ground to avoid a sudden rush over night during the storm.

In the seventh year in the reign of Obama, legislation passed that all U.S. citizens be counted in the county where their ancestors had settled. This unusual census was when Kasich was governor of Ohio and Jordan was fourth district representative.
Jose from Lebanon, Ohio, with his young housekeeper, Maria, who was nine-month’s pregnant with someone else’s child, and who Jose had intended to marry, drove to Bluffton in Jose’s 1996 Mercury Cougar. This was because Jose was a great-great-great-grandson of Swiss immigrant, Jesse Zurflugh, in Richland Township.
This Christmas card was mailed to Bertha Althaus, Bluffton, Ohio, from her brother, Andrew of Toledo. We can't read the postmark date, but Bertha was married in 1899, and after that was Bertha Hahn.

Santa Claus (portrayed by Al McCluer) in an early 1950s Bluffton Santa Claus visit approaches a farm wagon stage on the Prebsyterian Church lawn. He arrived by fire truck. Can anyone please identify the fire truck in the photo? The Ford on Main heading north is a 1951 model.

These three women will receive Volunteer of the Year Award this year from the Bluffton Senior Citizens Association according to Tonya Meyer, director.
Typically the association’s directors chose one person, but not year. According to Meyer, director, the three women chosen are all quilters and do many other craft and sewing projects for the center.
