TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team capped off a doubleheader sweep of the Beavers with a 79-70 win on Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016. Bluffton slipped to 6-2 overall and 1-2 in the Heartland Conference, while RHIT improved to 3-3 and 2-1 in the HCAC.
Bluffton Family Recreation doesn’t halt its programming during the holidays.
Several activities take place later this month including indoor holiday soccer tournaments, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director. There’s still time to regular teams for the tourney.
The popular holiday tournaments takes place Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, Dec. 17-18-21.

Saturday, Dec. 17 – high school boys’
Sunday, Dec. 18 – adult open
Wednesday, Dec. 21 – high school coed

Give Bluffton middle school students a challenge and they’ll top it.
According to Robin Ault, 7th and 8th grade language arts teacher, the middle school conducted a food drive and Toys for Tots drive this month.
The middle school student senate sponsored the drives.
Food collected was donated to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry. Mrs. Ault said that the food drive goal was 1,500 items.The goal was topped with 1,505 items donated.
And, 79 new toys were collected for Toys for Toys.
Kathy Keller led a Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs workshop on Dec. 9 on "Entrepreneur's road map to success."
Keller will lead BCE's 2017 Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition, which begins in January. Prize money from $500 to $4,000 will be awarded to winners. For more details go to www.blufftonentrepreneurs.com
Keller, project coordinator, Small Business Development Center, Rhodes State College, Lima, instructs the classes, which cover seven two-hour sessions.
The Ohio High School Athletic Association will conduct its Inaugural 7th and 8th Grade Track and Field State Championships on May 13, 2017, OHSAA Commissioner Dr. Dan Ross has announced.
The event, which has been discussed for several years by the OHSAA’s Middle School Committee, was officially approved by the OHSAA Board of Directors at its October meeting.
Qualifying standards and state qualifiers will be coordinated through an online process at www.BaumsPage.com, with the one-day state championships set for Lancaster High School.
Bluffton High School girls' basketball team defeated Crestview tonight (Dec. 8) in a Northwest Conference contest 52-42. Alivia Koenig lead BHS with 18 points.

The Icon has learned of arrests made on Dec. 6 involving an undercover investigation of human trafficking apparently in the Hancock County portion of Bluffton.
