Did you know that engines for Edels were built in Lima?
Dennis Morrison shared with the Icon this photo of his father, Jack, who Dennis says was either the first or second person hired at the Lima Engine Plant when it opened.
He later became a maintenance foreman and retired from Lima after 30 years of service.
This photo shows Dennis’ father hot testing the 410 Edsel engines. The engines were V-8s. This photo was taken in December 1957.
Dennis also worked at the plant for 40 years, upon graduation from BHS in 1965 until 2006.
Drive north on Jackson Street and you may see this car parked across from the high school. It's on a red Chevy and just might belong to Jessica Mayberry, science teacher.
Bluffton council will consider approve several purchase requests on Monday.
The largest purchase is for a new dump truck. A quote through the state bidding system is $77,803. The village had budgeted $65,000 and eliminated several options, bringing the revised quote to $67,069.
Other purchase requests include: • Two mowers - $14,354 quote
• Adobe Pro Software - $3,920 quote for 10 users; village asked for quote for three users, which is not yet received (estimate is $1,200)
Bluffton first graders last week learned a new way to examine the three-digit number, according to their teachers Teri Steinmetz, Ryan Dunlap, Jamie Combs and Amber Huffman.

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Bluffton track and field athletes in unprecedented numbers competed in, scored points, and reached the podium at the All-Ohio Indoor Track and Field Championship. At this prestigious meet that brings together the top Division 3 athletes in the state, there were 15 Beavers, the most in the history of the program, competing in 10 events.
ANDERSON, Ind. - The Anderson University men rode a 29-9 run late in the first half to a convincing 98-72 win over Bluffton University on Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017. The Beavers dipped to 12-11 overall and 5-11 in the Heartland Conference, while AU stayed within a game of first place in the HCAC at 13-3 (16-7 overall).
DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University track and field teams started the first day of their two-meet weekend Friday at Defiance College, competing in the Dick Small Memorial Invitational, where athletes not qualified for Saturday’s All-Ohio Championship performed superbly.
