BCE workshop on Dropbox follows breakfast

February is Heart Health Awareness month.

And, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will hear from Carla Thompson of the American Cancer Society during the 7 a.m., Friday, Feb. 10, breakfast in the town hall, according to Phil Zimmerly.

The breakfast sponsor is Gary Reese and Faith Investments. Breakfast is provided by The Dough Hook. A flower arrangement raffle courtesy of Town and Country Flowers, is also part of the program.

Gary Reese of Faith Investment Services, Bluffton, was named among the top 25 financial advisers at Creative Financial Designs (cfd) investments in 2016.

He qualified for 2017 Presidential Advisers Group for the third year in a row. Reese was also named as December Adviser of the Month with the investment group.

cfd investments is a registered broker/dealer based in Kokomo, Ind., and is the back-office support for Reese's work at Faith Investment Services.

It’s time to think about Kindergarten for the 2017-2018 school year. 

Any child who will be 5 years old by Aug. 1, 2017, is eligible to enroll. In order to develop a kindergarten mailing list, contact the Bluffton elementary office at 419-358-7951. 

The school needs the following information: child’s name, birth date, parents’ names,address, and phone number.

Four Bluffton HS wrestlers won their weight class and two were repeat winners from last year at Saturday's NWC meet.

Ada junior Chase Sumner (138) was named Wrestler of The Year by a vote by the coaches. Mike Abbey of Allen East was voted by his peers as NWC Coach of The Year.

Repeat winners from last year included Chase Sumner (Ada-138), Andrew Foust (DJ-120), Luke Brown (AE-145), Cole Wilson (BL-152) and Deandre Nasser (BL-195). 

Dr. Sherri Winegardner, director of nursing and associate professor of nursing, will present the Colloquium "Health Care: Is it a System? A Systems Thinking Concept Analysis and the Role of the Nurse” at 4 p.m., Friday, Feb. 24, in Centennial Hall’s Stutzman Lecture Hall.
 

Bluffton University to host guest recital
 
Kate Boyd, associate professor of piano and piano area coordinator at Butler University, will perform a guest recital at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 24, in Yoder Recital Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
 
Boyd will perform a variety of selections including works by Gubaidulina, Bach, Chopin and Prokofiev.
 
An active soloist and chamber musician, Boyd has performed solo recitals at Schubert’s birth house in Vienna, the National Concert Hall in Dublin and the Musikhalle Hamburg.
 

The Village of Bluffton’s Recreation Committee will be meeting at 10 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool, according to Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer.
 
 

Open to the community Sunday mornings from Feb. 12 to March 26

Bluffton Presbyterian Church, 112 N. Main St., offers an adult Sunday school class "Living the Questions 2.0" beginning Sunday, Feb. 12. The class meets in the church from 9 to 10 a.m.

The class will view the DVD series that brings together over 30 theologians, scholars, pastors, and others in an exploration of an inclusive Christianity.

The 20-30-minutes DVD sessions are open to all adults in the community. Time for discussion follows the DVD.

Applies to 2017-18 school year

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District is currently accepting applications from students interested in attending the school district through open enrollment for the 2017-2018 school year.

Students from any school district in Ohio may apply and enroll in Bluffton Schools tuition free.  Students are admitted on a full-time basis only.

Applications are approved annually on a first come, first served basis and approval is subject to grade level enrollment and educational programs.
