Ever wonder what exactly you should check on your vehicle between visits to a mechanic? Or, how about before a long road trip?
Bluffton Public Library offers Adulting 101 - recommended for teens and adults - in basic car care at 3:30 p.m., Thursday, July 27, at Leiber's Garage, 130 Vance St., Bluffton.
Scott Deitsch, head mechanic at the garage, will lead the car care talk. The program includes demonstrations on:
• checking fluids
• checking oil
• checking tires.
When will the Bentley Road overpass be opened again?
Everyone in Bluffton asks that question. Here's some photos to show the stage of the project at the moment. In a few weeks cement will be poured, and that will take place at night.

Technically there are two bridges on Bentley Road (one over Interstate 75 and one over the railroad). The bridge replacement started in early June and the bridge will be closed until sometime in September.
Both the southbound entrance and exit ramps at Bentley Road are also closed.
Riley Creek Arbor is sponsoring free pool admission for the first 200 swimmers at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool from noon – 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.
"Space is limited, so get there early," said Gary Reese of the Arbor.
Riley Creek Arbor of Gleaner Life Insurance Society regularly supports the local community through monetary and volunteer efforts. The Arbor consists of members from Bluffton, Lima and surrounding communities.
Matt, a folk singer, will entertain PrimeTimers Fellowship members next week.
The program is at noon, Tuesday, Aug. 1, at St. John Mennonite Church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora.
The program is free and open to persons 55 and older. A free luncheon is included. This month's menu includes hamburger and hotdogs, macaroni salad, bakes beans, bagged chips, fresh fruit and ice cream bars.

On Sunday, July 16, one of Bluffton’s 4-H clubs completed their community service project for this year. The Bluffton Cattle 4-H Club’s community service project was to collect pop tabs, prepare non-perishable treat bags, and then hand deliver these items to the Ronald McDonald House in Toledo.
Mayor Judy, greetings. As a former resident of the village and a current landlord in the village I believe I have a small voice in the community. Here is what is on my mind. Recently I have read and heard about "Home Invasions" and some 'Drug Abuse' occurring.
These problems are a national problem, however my concern is for OUR community. Bluffton is a wonderful village, unique in many ways. Through the efforts of current and past residents Bluffton has developed a terrific reputation.
Lois M. Layne, 75, died July 24, 2017, at her residence. Lois was born Jan. 29, 1942, in Bluffton to the late Louis and Gladys (Schick) Criblez.
After graduating from Bluffton High School, Lois moved to Texas. While living in Texas, Lois was an inspector at Deluxe Check Printing Company. Upon moving back to Ohio, she worked at Monsanto Chemicals for 15 years as a quality control inspector. She later worked at Wilson Football Factory in Ada, as a waitress at Ingalls Restaurant and at Triplett Corporation both in Bluffton.
“Knowing and Hearing the Stories,” an inner-church dialogue, will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, July 27, at Bluffton First Mennonite Church.
The dialogue is a response to a request from the Maumee Valley Presbytery to hear stories of Anabaptists and Catholics, as they observes the 500th anniversary of the Reformation, “lamenting the violence and division that took place between Christian sisters and brothers.”
The women’s soccer team at Bluffton University is hosting a mentorship program for girls in the first through eighth grades who are interested in connecting with Bluffton’s women soccer players.
Each KITS Club participant will be paired with a player from the team, and throughout the fall semester, participants will have the opportunity to take part in planned activities such as game day help, team dinners, soccer training and community involvement.
