Ted Yoder on Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series

Ted Yoder, virtuoso, hammered dulcimer musician, will perform on the next Bluffton Town Hall Concert Series.

His performance is 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 27, in the third floor of the town hall.

Yoder has revolutionized the hammered dulcimer through his pop symphonic approach on the instrument as a solo performer.

Citizens Bancshares, Inc., will hold its annual shareholders' meeting at 7 p.m., Tuesday, Jan. 23, at Citizens National Bank, 102 S. Main St., Bluffton.

The Board of Trustees of Bluffton Public Library will hold its annual organizational meeting on Tuesday, Jan. 9, at 6:30 p.m.  The purpose of the meeting is to elect officers, set the 2018 meeting schedule and approve temporary authorizations for 2018.

U.S. News & World Report recognition

U.S. News & World Report has included Willow Ridge, Bluffton, in its selection of “Best Nursing Homes” for 2017-18. 

Willow Ridge, a 20-bed facility, is part of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO).  With an overall rating of “Top Performing,” Willow Ridge joins 2,300 nursing homes across the country in earning the Best Nursing Homes distinction.

Brad Fruchey, Ken Lugibihl and Wes Klinger begin new four-year terms

Bluffton school board reorganizes for a new year on Monday. Three re-elected board members will take the oath of office for another four years and several board appointments will follow.

The three re-elected board members are Brad Fruchey, Ken Lugibihl and Wes Klinger.

Among appointments are:
• Board president and vice-president
• Over a dozen standing authorizations affecting the treasurer and superintendent
• The 2018 meeting schedule
• Board representatives to various committees, delegates and liaisons

They will chose a council president and may also pick a replacement for one council vacancy

It’s a new year and Bluffton council meets in its new-yet-familiar look for the first time in 2018 on Monday.

Monday is Richard Johnson’s first official meeting as mayor. It is also the first meeting for new council members Jerry Cupples, Mitch Kingsley and David Steiner.

The Monday agenda is largely a reorganization session. Although not on the agenda, council has the option of selecting a council member to replace Johnson who became mayor at the resignation of Judy Augsburger at the final 2017 meeting.
