She was a Bluffton High School graduate

Barbara Ann Mikesell, 65, died Jan. 2, 2018, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. 

Barbara was born Nov. 18, 1952, in Lima, Ohio to the late John and Dorothy (Cox) Skelly.  On Feb. 21, 1971, she married Kenneth Mikesell who preceded her in death on Dec. 10, 2006.

Barb graduated from Bluffton High School. Along with her mother, she operated the Cottage Gift Haus in Bluffton.

St. John Mennonite Church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora, will hold a garage sale fund-raiser for students in Haiti who are having surgeries.

The garage sale features furniture and home goods and takes place from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at the church.

 

 

Mildred Zoe Criblez, 97, died Dec. 31, 2017, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. Mildred was born June 8, 1920, in Cairo, Ohio to William and Anna (Candler) Parker who preceded her in death. On Feb. 15, 1942, she married Maurice "Dock" Criblez who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2011.

The library introduces its first Winter Book Games reading program for children, teens, and adults!

This  Bluffton postcard postmarked Dec. 22, 1905, by an unknown photographer shows a person riding in a hot air balloon over Bluffton. Certainly this was the Wilbur Wright of Bluffton. Certainly an interesting story lost in history.

The Thursday, Jan. 4, community meal planned at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center is cancelled. Tonya Meyer, center director, said the cancellation is due to the low tempeatures anticipated to continue this week. The dinner will not be rescheduled.
