Both boys and girls golf teams finished third at the Allen East Invitational held Saturday at Sycamore Springs Golf Course.  Golfers finished 18 holes rather than the typical 9 in windy conditions. 

The Pirate boys shot a 371 finishing behind Van Buren (352) and Upper Scioto Valley (362).  No individual results have been made available.

Freshman Regaan Mittendorf scored all Pirate goals in a 3-2 girls soccer victory over Ada on Saturday.  

Ada took a 1-0 lead in the game's first ten minutes.  Mittendorf tied it up from a shot outside the box later in the half.  Mittendorf again scored from outside the box on a chip shot just before halftime. 

Ada tied the game at 2-2 with 25' remaining however Ms. Mittendorf put Bluffton ahead to stay with ten minutes remaining.

Here are special events and services offered in October by the Bluffton Public Library.

A 3D Printer is available for public use again during the month of October. Suggested donations are 50 cents per hour to help cover the costs for filament. The 3D printer is provided through The Northwest Regional Library System (NORWELD), of which Bluffton Public Library is a member.

According to the web, Indifference is a noun meaning lack of interest, concern or sympathy.  When I wake up in the morning and listen to the news, I find myself shaking my head with a visceral (deep-felt response) when attempting to make sense of our current world. 

Water main project underway

West Elm Street between Rosenberger Drive and Spring Street is now a one-lane street due to water main installation.
The project has two phases.

• Water work phase
October to December –

• Installation of an 8-inch water main, creek crossing, new service lines, new meter settings where required and new fire hydrants.

• Trenches from work performed will be temporarily paved, road is planned to be closed during construction, maintained for local traffic.

Lots of opportunities for youth

Bluffton Family Recreation's Session 2 of youth programming kicks off next week, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.

"Our team of experienced instructors is looking forward to developing youth through a variety of games and skills," he said. "Please call or visit our website to register."

14th annual family-friendly event attracts countless visitors to Bluffton

Bluffton's 14th annual fall festival was a big hit and the weather cooperated, making it a fun day for families to visit Bluffton.

Events took place at Maple Crest, Mennonite Home, downtown, Swiss Community Historical homestead, Bluffton Hospital and Bluffton Family Recreation.

The Area Agency on Aging 3  (Your Aging & Disability Resource Center) will be at Bluffton Public Library on Friday, Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Lewandowski family has unique peerspective of aging and nursing homes

Lewandoskis Benefit from Family Volunteer Experience

According to the website for Kids Giving Back, volunteering is a two-way street, giving children and their families an opportunity to change lives, including their own. 

Because of the Mennonite Home Community of Ohio’s volunteer program, Bluffton’s Lewandowski family has been given a new view of aging and nursing homes.

You can't have a high school homecoming without crown bearers. Two Bluffton youths selected for this important role are Jonathan McKanna and Milena King.

Jonathan is the son of Jeff and Julie McKanna. Milena is the daughter of Kevin and Alison King.

The crown bearers will be in the parade and on the football field during the Friday pre-game ceremony.
