Bluffton on an 11-game winning streak

By Cort Reynolds
BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton swept a softball doubleheader from St. Marys Saturday afternoon to keep its win streak alive.

The Lady Pirate squad extended its win string to 11 games with a 2-1, 7-5 sweep of St. Marys that improved their season record to 12-1.

Pitcher Libby Schaadt ran her record to 10-1 this spring with a complete-game three-hitter in the opener. Schaadt struck out 10 batters, walked one and allowed just one earned run.

It was spring in the early 1950s when this aerial photo of new homes on West Kibler Street was taken. Riley Creek overflowed its banks, washing was on the line to dry and no vehicles were on the street. The Motter farm extended just to the edge of the curve in street. Several homes now located here were yet to be constructed. An alley acutally exists and appears to be used.
