Softball: Streaking Lady Pirates sweep Roughriders

BLUFFTON - Host Bluffton swept a softball doubleheader from St. Marys Saturday afternoon to keep its win streak alive.
The Lady Pirate squad extended its win string to 11 games with a 2-1, 7-5 sweep of St. Marys that improved their season record to 12-1.
Pitcher Libby Schaadt ran her record to 10-1 this spring with a complete-game three-hitter in the opener. Schaadt struck out 10 batters, walked one and allowed just one earned run.
Mara Minnig led the offense with an RBI double. Schaadt, Averey Rumer, Katie Prater and Riley Busch each added a single.
All the runs in the game were scored in the fourth inning. SM took a 1-0 lead with a run in the top of the inning, but Bluffton pushed across two runs in the home fourth to lead 2-1.
Bluffton out-hit the Roughriders 5-3 in the pitcher's duel. SM committed two errors while the Pirates made one error.

In the nightcap, Bluffton held off a last-ditch Roughrider rally to post a 7-5 victory.
The Pirates led 7-1 heading to the seventh, but SM plated four runs in their final at bat before coming up short.
Grace Myers pitched all seven innings for Bluffton to earn her first win. She scattered 11 hits and allowed just two earned runs. Myers walked two and struck out one.
Schaadt slammed a triple, hit a home run and singled to drive in two runs and lead the Pirate offensive attack. Prater had two hits and two runs batted in. Rumer singled twice and scored two runs.
Alivia Koenig singled in a pair of runs while Lauren Swartzlander legged out a triple.
Bluffton out-hit the visitors 12-11 and made two miscues compared to three errors by SM.

Pirate Schaadt no-hits MC
MILLER CITY - Visiting Bluffton whipped Miller City 10-0 as Libby Schaadt hurled a five-inning no-hitter in a non-conference softball mismatch Friday evening.
The Lady Pirates improved to 10-1 with their ninth straight win.
Schaadt improved to 9-1 by striking out 13, giving up no hits and walking two in her shutout win. She also hit a double and a home run to lead the nine-hit Bluffton offense.
The Pirates jumped on top early with five runs int he first inning. They added two runs in each of the second and third innings, and one more in the fourth.
Pirate Riley Busch contributed two hits and two runs batted in. Averey Rumer added two hits and scored a pair of runs.
Bluffton committed no errors, while MC made four miscues.
