Kay S. Otto, 69, of Bluffton, died on Dec. 30, 2020, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. She was born July 11, 1951, in Lima, Ohio to Evelyn (Eck) Otto and the late Richard Otto.

Kay is survived by her mother, Evelyn; daughter, Angel Lombardo of South Korea; three grandchildren, Kayne (Vivian) Edwards of China, Noah Edwards of Tennessee, Mia Edwards of Ohio; and one great-granddaughter, Juliette Edwards of China. She is also survived by her brothers, Larry Otto of Tucson, Arizona, and Don Otto of Ohio.

Although 2020 will be remembered as a hot year politically, and by many as a year to forget socially, weather-wise, the year appeared rather ho-hum. 

2020 wasn’t really record-setting:

First Zoom chamber meeting of 2021

Village of Bluffton emergency services staff will lead a discussion on prevention and mitigation of damage to your business during the Friday morning Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Zoom meeting.

Persons may join the meeting at 7:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 8, and the meeting begins at 7:30 a.m. according to Paula Scott, chamber CEO.

Spring trout derby status undecided

The Bluffton Sportmen's Club's annual meeting and fish fry has been cancelled according to Tom Augsburger, club president.

He added that at this time it is not certain whether the spring trout derby will be held. Watch the Icon more follow-ups to this story.

Sam Stucky, a musician in Pittsburgh who graduated Bluffton University in 2016, is experiencing success in the field of alternate rock.

He released a new single “Breathe In,” on Sept. 25. In October he released another single, titled “No One Else.” In November he released a single titled “Nothing Special.”

The Bluffton Exempted Village School District is currently accepting applications from students interested in attending the school district through open enrollment for the 2021-2022 school year.

Students from any school district in Ohio may apply and enroll in Bluffton Schools tuition free. Students are admitted on a full-time basis only.

Applications are approved annually on a first-come, first-served basis and approval is subject to grade level enrollment and educational programs.

Peggy Ann Bowyer, 88, died Jan. 2, 2021, of natural causes.

The youngest of six siblings, she was born in Bluffton, Ohio, on March 7, 1932, to the late Dorothy and Charles Young.

Following graduation from Bluffton High School in 1950, she married Kenneth Bowyer on June 24, 1950, and they were married 56 years prior to his death.
