Southgate Lanes, 9700 N Dixie Hwy., is signing up bowlers for the first of 15 consecutive tournaments sponsored by Storm, a bowling balls, shoes, and clothing company. The 2:00 p.m., December 4 event is a Singles 9-pin No Tap tournament.

Six Bluffton High School students had a nearly perfect day at the 2021-2022 Northwest Conference Scholastic Bowl Competitionat at Allen East High School on Saturday, November 6. The team won six out of seven matches.

Deyonka Hickey, who grew up in Ada and raised her kids in Bluffton, is featured in a recent issue of the weekly magazine People. The article “Hero Veterans Are Stepping Up to Feed Fellow Vets Suffering from Food Insecurity” details how difficult it was for her to accept help from a Lima food pantry when she ran out of money to feed her family after leaving the Air Force.

The Alma College Scots turned up the defense in the second half resulting in a 73-59 victory over Bluffton in the 2021-22 men's basketball season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 9, 2021.
Haleigh Gatchel of Bluffton has been awarded a Choose Ohio First Scholarship from the University of Findlay for fall 2021.
Gatchel is pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree.
The Choose Ohio First (COF) STEMM scholarship is for students in computer science, pharmacy, health professions, environmental safety, adolescent/young adult (AYA) math or science, and biology programs. Recipients must be Ohio residents or graduates of Ohio high schools, enrolled in an eligible program, and meet additional academic requirements defined by the University.

Finance (Dave Steiner, Phil Talavinia) reported they are requesting more detailed numbers before making decisions on upcoming appropriations.
Bluffton’s Ten Thousand Villages store, 115 S Main St., is preparing for its biggest sale of the year--to be held November 12 and 13--and is celebrating the 75th anniversary of the fair trade movement. World Fair Trade sales have grown ten-fold from 2004 to 2018 ($.83 to $9.8 billion euros), but the movement's start was on the smallest of scales.
