April 24 Media Release__Citizens National Bank (CNB) is pleased to announce Alan Garmatter’s promotion to Chief Credit Officer. Alan will be overseeing the newly combined Commercial and Retail Credit departments.

In 2002, Joni Mitchell announced she was leaving the music industry only to start writing again in 2006.   

On September 25, 2007, Mitchell released her 19th studio album titled Shine. The Canadian singer-songwriter became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s for her folk music. Over her career, she has branched out into many different genres such as pop, jazz fusion and rock. She was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1997.

Bluffton University recognized many of its top students for their academic achievements at the annual Academic Awards and Honors Forum on April 22.

Nine seniors were recognized as C. Henry Smith Scholars.

One senior was recognized for completion of the Honors Program. 

Two weeks ago, the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) implemented a significant number of job cuts that will impact our response to sexual assault here locally.

The Program Branch of the CDC Division of Violence Prevention (DVP) was eliminated. This section, which is part of the Injury Center, is responsible for administering the Rape Prevention and Education (RPE) program that has provided Crime Victim Services with vital funding to carry out prevention programming since 2013.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton High School baseball team was shut out by local Northwest Conference rival Allen East 8-0 Tuesday, April 22.
The Pirates fell to 6-6 overall and 1-1 in the NWC with the defeat

Meanwhile, AE improved to 5-4 overall and 2-1 in NWC play after the win.

The Mustangs built a 3-0 lead through six innings. AE then broke it open with five runs in the top of the seventh to take a commanding 8-0 margin.

Apollo Career Center Adult Education is excited to announce the launch of our newly approved Apollo School of Cosmetology. The 15-month evening program will run Monday through Thursday from 3:30-10:00 pm, and will equip students with extensive training in cosmetology, setting them up to successfully become a licensed cosmetologist.

BLUFFTON – The Bluffton boys varsity tennis squad blanked visiting WBL foe Kenton 5-0 on a windy Monday evening, April 21.

The Pirate netters improved to 7-1 with the shutout victory. Bluffton won all 10 sets in the match.

Bluffton senior Branson Hilty cruised at first singles over Wyatt Campbell by a 6-4, 6-2 score.

Jack Brauen defeated Seth Spencer 7-5, 6-1 at second singles.

Nick Lovett swept Richard Huang 6-2, 6-2 in their third singles bout.

May Pathway Count: The next Pathway Count scheduled for May. We have two new Pathways-S.R. 103 and County Line Road.

May 6: Club meeting 6:30 p.m. Town Hall. Speaker’s topic for the evening will be “The Impact of Alzheimer’s and Dementia in our Community” presented by the Alzheimer’s Association.
