The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce will host its monthly breakfast meeting on Friday, May 9. The meeting will be held on the third floor of the Town Hall.

The breakfast sponsor is Jacomet's Martial Arts. The Circle U Waffle Co. will be catering the breakfast, which is served beginning at 7:00 a.m.

The 7:30 a.m. program will be Building Your AI Brain by Courtnee R. Morris, technology coordinator for Bluffton Exempted Village Schools:

May 6 MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University graduated its 125th class during the Saturday, May 3, Commencement ceremony. The 125th graduating class consisted of 189 bachelor’s and master’s degrees.

The 2025-2025 spring district newsletter for Bluffton Exempted Village Schools includes reports from Superintendent Greg Denecker, Elementary Principal Kori Bernal, Middle School Principal Douglas Westrick, High School Principal Mike Minnig, the Music Department and Athletic Director Alex Hanna.

The Bluffton High School girls softball team was seeded fifth at the seven-team, Northwest Div. V Hamler Patrick Henry sectional/district drawing on Sunday, May 4.

The Pirates (2-10) will play at fourth seed Ottawa-Glandorf (6-8) Wednesday, May 14 at 5 p.m.

The winner advances to face top seed Bloomdale Elmwood (13-6), who leads the Blanchard Valley Conference with an 8-0 record, in the district semifinals at Hamler Patrick Henry on Wednesday, May 21 at 2 p.m.

WWW.ADAICON.COM__The Independent Women's Flag Football Association will hold its second women's flag football tournament on Saturday May 10 at Dial Roberson Stadium on the Ohio Northern University campus.

IWFFA president Diane Beruldsen reports that 4 teams will play this year, including teams from Key West and Columbus.

FINDLAY – The Bluffton boys track and field team won the tough 10-team Liberty-Benton Pat Wagner Invitational on a wet Saturday, May 3. The Pirate boys finished with 122 points to defeat second-place meet host L-B (105) by 17 points. Oak Harbor came in third with 85 points, followed by Columbus Grove (70) and Bath (65).

Grove took the girls team crown with 144 points, while the Pirate girls finished a strong second at 119. Oak Harbor ended up a close third with 118, and Bath came in fourth (86.5).

Noon Book Group (R) meets Wednesday, May 7. The group will discuss Vera Wong’s Unsolicited Advice for Murderers by Jesse Q. Sutanto. The book that will be discussed June 4 is Tom Lake by Anne Patchett.  Stop by the library front desk to register and pick up the book, and to receive email updates.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School baseball team handily defeated visiting non-conference foe North Baltimore 12-2 on Friday, May 2.

The Pirates scored in every inning, capped by a four-run bottom of the sixth, to enact the 10-run mercy rule.

The Pirates improved to 8-10 overall after the lopsided win. The Tigers fell to 7-5 after the decisive defeat.

Bluffton out-hit NB, 9-2. The Pirates drilled three doubles and hit one triple. The hosts led 5-0 after three innings, then stretched the lead to 8-1 after five frames.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls softball team lost a 2-1 pitcher’s duel to visiting non-conference foe Continental on Friday evening, May 2.

The visiting Pirates scored a run in the first inning to take an early lead. Bluffton tied it with a run in the bottom of the fourth. Continental broke the tie by pushing across the winning run in the sixth.

The Pirate girls dropped to 2-10 overall with the tight loss. Continental improved to 10-6 after the win.
