MEDIA RELEASE__For over forty years, the Allen Soil and Water Conservation District has helped local pond owners stock their ponds affordably, and we are thrilled to carry on this tradition.

Adding fish to your pond sparks a thriving food chain among plants, fish, and all the creatures that call it home. Healthy fish are the secret to a balanced ecosystem. They not only keep pesky insects in check but also feast on extra nutrients from aquatic plants, helping your water stay clear and vibrant.

The Annual Garage Sale will take place March 26, 27 and 28 at the Bluffton Senior Center. A special half-price sale will be offered Monday, March 30 in the morning.

Donations for the sale are being accepted through Friday, March 20.

Playgroup is held most Fridays at 10 a.m. Make a playdate and the library will provide the space and toys.

The phrase “say cheese” for photos appears in newspaper articles starting in the 1940s. In 1943, the Oxford English Dictionary cites the phrase being repeated by Joseph E. Davies, who was the United States ambassador (1936-1938) to the Soviet Union and appointed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. Prior to “saying cheese” other words such as prunes, whiskey, and cheese with crackers were used by photographers to get you to smile.
