BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School softball team lost 12-1 to visiting non-conference foe Arcadia on Tuesday, April 21.
The Pirates tallied their lone run in the bottom of the first inning to seize a brief lead. The Redskins plated five runs in the top of the second to take the lead for good.
Arcadia added a run in the fourth, then tallied twice in the fifth. The Blanchard Valley Conference leaders plated four more runs in the sixth frame to extend the margin to 11 and enact the 10-run mercy rule.

Ava Smallcombe is a Bluffton High School senior and a 2026 Lee Volunteer Award winner.
She will attend the awards banquet on April 22, when she will find out if she is the Youth Winner for this award. She has already donated an initial award to Bluffton’s Leo Club. She is planning to attend college at The Ohio State University main campus.

Letitia M. (“Tish”) Triplett passed away on the evening of March 17, 2026, at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Tish was born in Bluffton, Ohio on August 3, 1962, the daughter of M. Morris and Jean Hoover Triplett. She was a 1980 graduate of Bluffton High School, and went on to graduate from Bluffton College and the Ohio Institute of Photography in Dayton. Her great-grandfather, Will A. Triplett, was the first commercial photographer in Bluffton.
As an elected representative of Bluffton, I'd like to pass on this press release from the Ohioans to Protect Public Services coalition, which gives an overview of the uses and purpose of property taxes in local government.
I strongly recommend that Ohioans educate themselves on how property taxes fund their local government services and the consequences of losing that revenue.
