Sharon K. Rettig, 83, passed away April 29, 2026, at Blanchard Valley Hospital.

Sharon was born on October 25, 1942, in Bluffton, to Russell and Lamoile "Molly" (Salsbury) Amstutz who preceded her in death. On August 4, 1961, she married Norman Rettig, who preceded her in death on July 5, 2006.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton High School vocal ensemble One Voice--with performers Ellie Hartzler, Claire Phillips, Liliana Liberato, Makenna Mohr, Eli Lehman and Ty Huffman--will present its final concert on Sunday, May 17, 2026 at 4:00  p.m. in the Bluffton Middle School Cafetorium.

This performance marks the close of the group’s high school chapter. The program will feature selections from the past two years, revisiting the music that has shaped the ensemble’s time together.

APRIL 25 MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton Ohio Historical Society announced “A Museum in the Making” at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center on Main Street, Bluffton on Thursday, April 23, 2026.  

During this presentation, the Society disclosed plans to purchase and renovate two adjacent properties on North Main Street that are intended to become the future BOHS Museum.  Attendees learned what is planned for the museum, the projected timeline, and plenty of questions were asked about this exciting project.

Bob Dylan is considered one of the best songwriters of our time. In April of 1976, he released a song only in Japan called One More Cup of Coffee. The song could be found on his 4th album titled Desire. The recording is famous for the backup vocals by Emmylou Harris.

Village of Bluffton Council met on Monday, April 27 with Mayor Rich Johnson conducting the meeting. During the session, Council heard a presentation from Ohio Northern engineering students on two ways to improve stormwater control. A resolution was introduced to allow painting of the Bluffton University name and logo on the Village's east water tower.

MT. BLANCHARD__The visiting Bluffton High School softball team used a first inning eruption to defeat non-conference rival Riverdale 9-4 on Tuesday, April 28.

The Pirates jumped ahead with eight big runs in the top of the first inning. The Falcons battled back within 8-4 after three frames.  

Neither team scored in the fourth through sixth innings. Bluffton tacked on one run in the seventh. Pirate pitching and defense held the Falcons scoreless in the final four frames.

MOUNT BLANCHARD__The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team built a big early lead then added on late to stave off a rally and beat non-conference foe Riverdale 11-7 on a cool Tuesday, April 28.

The Pirates jumped ahead with three runs in the top of the first inning. They plated two runs in the third, and tacked on one in the fourth to build a 6-0 margin.

Riverdale scored three runs in the fourth, but the Pirates surged back ahead with three runs in the top of the sixth.

MINSTER__The Bluffton High School girls track and field team won a four-team meet at Minster on Tuesday, April 28. 

Bath edged St. Henry 76-71 to claim the boys meet title. Minster was a close third (66), while the Pirate boys were fourth (41).

GIRLS RESULTS

The Pirate girls nosed out host Minster 73.5 to 70.5 points to capture the meet. St Henry finished a close third with 62 points, while Bath was last at 28.
