Timothy Cooper, 41, of Bluffton, crashed into a N. Dixie Hwy. residence on the morning of March 22 according to an Ohio State Highway Patrol report.

Cooper was taken to the hospital and the 2008 Honda Accord he was driving was disabled by front end damage. 

In the incident, Cooper was traveling southwest at an estimated 55 mph, crossed the centerline and hit a home near Lugabill Rd.

The driver was cited with operating a vehicle without reasonable control. An unknown distraction was indicated in the crash report.

Due to the increased threat of severe weather, Allen County EMA will not be administering the monthly test of the 50 Allen County Community Warning Sirens at noon on April 2, 2025, as was scheduled.

The next monthly test of the warning sirens is scheduled for Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at noon.

Betty C. Mumaugh, 97, passed away March 28, 2025, at the Meadows of Leipsic.

Betty was born February 7, 1928 in Allen County, Ohio to Charles and Maude (Roberts) Cook who preceded her in death. On July 3, 1964 she married William Mumaugh who preceded her in death on May 7, 1997. 

She was a graduate of Beaverdam High School and was a member of Rockport United Methodist. She enjoyed reading and gardening. 

She is survived by her daughter, Barbara (David) White of Leipsic; grandson, David (Rachel) White of Leipsic; and great-grandson, Benjamin White.

Allen County EMA has issued a Severe Weather Alert for Wednesday, April 2.

There is a potential for severe weather on Wednesday, April 2. The primary threats include:

  • Damaging Winds
  • Heavy Rainfall — with rates of 0.5 to 1 inch per hour

These conditions could lead to localized flooding and hazardous travel. Please stay weather aware, have multiple ways to receive alerts, and avoid flooded roadways.
