Editor's note: A bin for donations has been placed in the lobby of the Bluffton Post Office on Friday, May 9. Mail carriers will pick up donations on their routes on Saturday, May 10.

MEDIA RELEASE__Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes on the second Saturday in May (May 10 this year) to collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping to fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.

COLUMBUS GROVE – The visiting Bluffton girls softball team blasted Northwest Conference rival Columbus Grove 24-9 Thursday evening, May 8.

The Pirate girls scored six runs in the first inning to build an early lead. They then led 8-4 after four frames.

Bluffton poured it on with four runs in the fifth, five in the sixth and seven in their last at bat in the seventh.

COLUMBUS GROVE__The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team lost 8-2 to Northwest Conference foe Columbus Grove on a cool Thursday evening, May 8.

The Pirates fell behind 2-1 early. Grove then broke the game open by scoring six runs in the fourth frame. Bluffton added one tally in the sixth.

The Pirates fell to 8-11 overall and 1-5 in the NWC with the defeat. The Bulldogs improved to 10-9 overall and 4-3 in NWC play after the win.

Bluffton was out-hit by the Bulldogs, 7-3. Both teams committed two errors.

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys tennis team dominated visiting Lima Senior 5-0 Thursday, May 8.

The Pirates improved to 12-3 with the lopsided victory. 

Bluffton took four matches in straight sets despite a revamped lineup, and earned one by forfeit to win easily.

Pirate senior Levi Antrim rolled to victory over Christian Ackerman at first singles 6-0, 6-0.  

Bluffton freshman Owen Brauen also triumphed over Spartan Cameron Mills 6-3, 7-5 at second singles.

Bluffton Middle School's Night at the Museum event on Wednesday, May 7 drew a large audience for student poster presentations in the gym and cafetorium. The school was abuzz with family and friends learning about student research that spanned continents and thousands of years of history.
