Loren D. Core, 75, of Duffield, Virginia, died Sept. 8, 2020. He was the son of G. Richard and Vera Gratz Core whom preceded him in death. He was born Oct. 18, 1945.
Survivors include children, Travis Core of Portland, Oregon, and daughter Amy Ludwig of Arizona City, Arizona, Brian of California, Darran of Washington state, Byron of Snowflake, Arizona, six grandchildren and one great-grand child. Also surviving is a very special friend, Janice Murphy

COLUMBUS GROVE - The Bluffton cross country teams competed at the annual 45-team, three-division Columbus Grove Invitational last Saturday.
The Pirate boys harriers took 11th in the 15-team gray division boys standings with 297 points. Columbus Grove won the boys title with 60 points, followed by Tinora (78) and Anna (82).
Senior Elijah Conley was the top Pirate runner as he finished 38th, one spot and three seconds ahead of sophomore teammate Sam Derstine.
Reagan Mittendorf (12th minute), Laykin Garmatter (18th), Clara Matthews (26th), Olivia Smallcombe (37th), Allison Diller (61st), Kendal Giesige (73rd), Brenna Kindle (78th) all found the back of the net.

BLUFFTON - The homestanding Bluffton volleyball team easily swept non-league foe Arlington Tuesday night.
Bluffton improved to 4-2 with the convincing 25-19, 25-6, 25-17 win. Arlington (0-6) stayed winless with the defeat.
Junior Kylie Stackhouse topped the Pirate girls with 21 kills and three blocks. Taylor Schwab knocked down nine kills, and also recorded 11 digs and two aces.
Setter Skyler Scoles dished up 29 assists. Kylie Monday hustled her way to 17 digs, while Sophie Bricker mustered up 10 digs.
The opening of U.S. 68 within the village of Arlington occurred quietly Saturday morning, Sept. 5, ending the four-month closure to complete the two remaining phases the roadway reconstruction project.
The project includes curb and gutter, drainage and storm sewer from the south corporation limit to Liberty Street; and from Buck Run to just north of Wardwell Street.
The village and the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) completed phase 1 in 2018 when the roadway between Liberty Street and Buck Run was reconstructed.
