COLUMBUS GROVE - The Bluffton High School cross country teams competed in the Div. III Northwest District meet on Saturday, October 18, at Columbus Grove.

The Pirates qualified three boy and three girl runners to the regional meet next weekend. Atticus Prothro, Levin Essinger, Toby Clevidence, Lydia Tarplee, Elizabeth Honse and Tessa Tarplee advanced with solid runs Saturday.

The top six teams and the top 12 individuals not on a qualifying team made it to the regional meet.

Nearly $65K raised for Benevolent Care Fund and Resident Wish List

OCT 17 MEDIA RELEASE__Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio hosted its 4th annual gala event on October 9, 2025 at Ebenezer Mennonite Church. The fundraising event benefits the Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio Benevolent Care Fund, which provides support to care for older adults who have outlived their resources. This year’s theme was “Aloha Nights,” and guests dressed in their favorite Hawaiian attire.

NWC showdown at Grove in week 10

HARROD__The visiting Bluffton High School football team romped after a close early battle over local rival Allen East 45-13 in their annual Northwest Conference grudge match on Friday, October 7 at Goodwin Field.

The Pirates reeled off the final 31 points of the contest to pull away from a 14-13 battle and win by 32. AE scored all 13 of its points in the second quarter to keep it close early. 

Construction is underway at the northern end of Vine St. at Lawn Ave. The Bluffton Exempted School District has hired Maumee Bay Turf, Inc. to install an artificial turf practice field. Vehicular traffic is now closed at this location.

OCT 9 MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton Community Markets will host Crossroads Crisis Center staff, board members and volunteers on Saturday, October 25 from 9:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. for Make a Difference Day (MADD).

Donations will be collected for Crossroads Crisis Center, a shelter in Lima and will be used for survivors of domestic violence.

The October 10 breakfast meeting of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce provided the following information on local businesses and upcoming chamber events.

CHAMBER LEADERSHIP TRANSITION
Director Jim Enneking announced that he will retire at the end of the year, with current assistant director Rene Gabriel stepping into his role. A new assistant will be hired.

NEW MEMBER
Enneking introduced new member Rachel Miller, a professional photographer under the business name Rachel Miller Creative.
