In advance of her new position as superintedent of Ada Schools in January

The Icon caught up with Meri Skilliter of Bluffton a couple days after she accepted the superintendent position at Ada schools. Here’s a portion of our discussion that is shared from the Ada Icon.

When you were a student, what teacher excited you about making a career in education?

Skilliter: Mrs. Hetrick, my fifth grade at Woodmore elementary, encouraged me to write. She was a fantastic teacher.

Tell us about your teaching career. Where did is start and how did you make your way to Ada?

Before Bluffton boxes up its final holiday decorations the Icon offers three final looks at the 2016 holiday season. Here are two windows from the Bluffton Public Library, plus an outdoor-looking-in at a Santa visit earlier this month at the library. We hope viewers enjoyed the many holiday photos we posted all month long.

To best understand our community, it's helpful to appreciate the musical gene of those who carry a Bluffton or Pandora birthmark.
