To cheer or holler loudly and enthusiastically is the dictionary’s definition for the slang phrase, make some noise. When I hear the term “make some noise,” I think of Cleveland Guardian games or The Ohio State University Buckeye football games when the opposing team is attempting to complete a third down play.
SEPT 22 MEDIA RELEASE__Area Agency on Aging 3 is making changes to the DISH (Dining to Improve Socialization and Health) program due to its popularity. The program provides qualified individuals with nutritious meals in a restaurant environment, beneficial socialization and nutrition information.
All participants, including those currently enrolled, must now apply each year during the enrollment period of October 1–31 to be considered for the following year.
HARROD__The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished fifth at the closely-contested seven-team Northwest Conference tournament on Monday, September 22 at Colonial Golfers Club.
Just nine shots separated first place from fifth place in the tight tournament race.
Lincolnview narrowly won the tournament championship by one stroke over Columbus Grove and Allen East, which tied for second. The Lancers totaled 340 shots to edge the Bulldogs and Mustangs at 341.
OTTAWA__The Bluffton High School girls golf team finished ninth in the 16-team Div. II sectional tournament at Moose Landing Golf Club in Ottawa on Tuesday, September 23.
Junior Katie Bauman led Bluffton with an 18-hole round of 47-52=99. She tied for 21st place in the field of 67 players.
Junior Allison Stechschulte finished with a score of 49-55=104 to tie for 27th place. Freshman Kaydence Welch carded a 56-60=116 to end up 41st.
Sophomore Molly Scott shot 65-60=125 and finished in 49th place.
BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School volleyball team swept visiting Columbus Grove in a Northwest Conference match on Senior Night Tuesday, September 23.
The Pirates improved to 12-5 overall and 4-0 in NWC play with the 25-23, 25-19, 25-20 win.
Columbus Grove fell to 7-8 overall and 2-2 in the NWC after the defeat.
Senior Kendall Stackhouse led Bluffton with 17 kills. Karlie Lora smacked nine kills and senior Libby Hocanson hit six kills.
LIMA__The visiting Bluffton High School boys soccer team handily defeated Northwest Conference rival Lima Central Catholic 5-0 on Tuesday, September 23.
Ashton Ungashick netted the last three Pirate goals to complete a hat trick.
The Pirates improved to 3-7-3 overall and 2-0 in NWC play after the shutout win.
LCC fell to 2-9-1 overall and 0-1-1 in the NWC with the defeat.
Bluffton’s Ethan Blount scored in the sixth minute off an assist by Chase Kelly to give the Pirates a 1-0 lead.
