Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 8374 Phillips Road, Bluffton, will hold a fish fry from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, March 9. Tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for youth 10 and under.
Students in the Bluffton University education organization sponsored an evening with nine Bluffton school teachers, according to Tim Byers, advisor to the organization.
"Nearly 50 students were challenged, entertained, engaged and touched for 90 minutes as the teachers shared their stories and their paths, taken to become teachers," he said.
He added: "The students left energized and more prepared to become effective teachers because of this evening.
The Bluffton University baseball team will once again go bald for a cause during a fundraiser for the non-profit Vs. Cancer.
A head-shaving event, featuring several baseball players and their supporters, will be held from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 27 in the Commons at Marbeck Center. This is the seventh year the baseball team has raised money for the charity, and it is the team’s largest community service project.
The Richland Township board of zoning appeals later this month will consider a conditional use permit for the construction of a retail butcher shop in an agriculture district.
The hearing takes place at 7 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 28, in the Richland Township house, 8435 N. Dixie Highway, according to Joshua Barhorst, township board of zoning appeals chairman.
There's a lion and a lamb in the Bluffton Public Library display case this month. This exhibit highlights Bluffton University's Lion and Lamb Center, which is celebrating its 30th year. The center uses the arts and literature to promote the study of peace and justice, cultural understanding and nonviolent responses to conflict with an emphasis on these themes for children.
Everyone who attended Bluffton’s second community chili cook off liked it, hot, mild or otherwise.
According to Lynda Best, one of the organizers, over 150 persons went through the chili line, which provided an assortment of chili while raising over $1,000 for the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry.
