The Bluffton Disc Golf Association, which plays at the Bluffton Hospital Disc Golf Course at Village Park on County Line Rd., has kicked off its summer 2025 season.

Players tee off at 2:00 p.m. on Sundays.

Allen C. Burkholder, 95, passed away May 22, 2025 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center in Findlay. Allen was born September 3, 1929 in Allen County to the late Otis and Rhoda (Amstutz) Burkholder. 

Allen graduated from Bluffton High School and was a life-long farmer who enjoyed horse racing and attending county fairs.  

The BHS Pirate baseball team will take on Liberty-Benton in the D2 Sectional Tournament at 12 p.m. Saturday, May 24 at Liberty Benton.

Tickets can be purchased in advance at www.ohsaa.org/tickets/

$5 for students (K-12), $8 Adults.

Cash tickets will also be available for purchase at the gate.

On December 21, 1967, the movie The Graduate was released. Dustin Hoffman starred in the movie as Benjamin Braddock, who just graduated from college with a Bachelor’s degree and has moved home to Pasadena, California. The actor Walter Brooke, who played Mr. McGuire, gives Benjamin his advice for the future.  He tells him one word—plastics! “There’s a great future in plastics.”

MAY 20 MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University students Trevor King ’28 of Wauseon, Ohio and Logan Daugherty ’27 of Bradford, Ohio are the 2025 recipients of the Summer Discovery Grant. This grant awards two first year or sophomore students $1,500 each for a 4-6 week unpaid vocational experience. Utilizing the summer months, students explore the relationship between vocation and faith through internships, job shadowing or other career related opportunities.
