Tickets are available for the Artist Series performance by the Walt Weiskopf Quartet at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Saxophonist, composer and author Walt Weiskopf has made an impressive mark as both a leader and sideman with over a dozen critically acclaimed albums and countless sideman credits. A dynamic player with enormous technical prowess, Weiskopf is equally well-regarded as a composer, with albums containing predominantly original work.
There’s a new pirate in Bluffton. It’s “Robo Pete.”
It will eventually be on the staff of Bluffton Hospital, and was named by the Bluffton second grade class in a school-held name the robot contest. The school has Pirate Pete as its mascot, thus the name Robo Pete makes sense.
Here’s the story.
On Nov. 3 Bluffton elementary, middle school and high school students witnessed a demonstration of The Women’s Center at Bluffton Hospital’s da Vinci Surgical robot.
Members of the Bluffton University cross country team just happened to be running within a minute after the Augsburger Road pathway ribbon cutting ceremony on Oct. 31. They were the first official users of the path.

Connectibility, safety and community cooperation joined hands as the Lions Way Augsburger Road Pathway opened last week. Here’s what was accomplished at the Oct. 31 ribbon cutting and dedication:
• Distance shortened from Point A to Point B.
Point A being Maple Crest, Willow Ridge, Riverbend, Augsburger Road residents and the Bluffton University Nature Preserve; Point B being Bluffton proper.
Sarah Diller and Brandon Fullenkamp, performers and educators, will lead the Alumni Forum, “Changing the World through Artful Performance,” at 11 a.m. Nov. 15, in Yoder Recital Hall.
The Forum presentation will be preceded by a concert featuring Diller and Fullenkamp at 7:30 p.m., Monday, Nov. 14, also in Yoder Recital Hall. Both events are free and open to the public.
During Forum, the 2011 Bluffton graduates will explain how theater can be an agent of social change.
