BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School softball team lost 8-2 to visiting non-conference rival Miller City on a hot Friday, April 17.

The Pirates tallied a run in the bottom of the first to take an early 1-0 lead. MC took the lead with two runs in the second, but Bluffton tied it 2-2 with a run in the home third.

The Wildcats then plated three runs in the top of the fourth to seize the lead for good. They added one run in the fifth, and tallied two insurance runs in the sixth to win by six.

MEDIA RELEASE__On April 15, Bishop Daniel E. Thomas of the Catholic Diocese of Toledo announced the appointment of Reverend Kyle T. Gase, from Parochial Vicar of Saint Rose of Lima Parish, Perrysburg, to Pastor of Saint Mary Parish, Bluffton.

This appointment will be effective July 1, 2026.

 

 

Pirates win 5 events

BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School track and field teams competed well at the 11-team Ottawa-Glandorf Gold Medal Invitational meet on a warm Friday, April 17.

The Pirate girls finished a strong third, while the Bluffton boys came in fourth.

Host O-G won the girls meet with 123 points. Otsego finished second with 78 points, followed closely by the Pirate girls (73) and Oregon (61).

WHITEHOUSE__The visiting Bluffton High School boys tennis team lost to Anthony Wayne 4-1 in a match on Friday evening, April 16.

The Pirates are 5-2-1 after the defeat.

Sophomore Toby Yarnell posted the lone Pirate win at third singles by a 6-4, 6-2 score.

Pirate senior Hudson Phillips lost 6-0, 6-0 at first singles.  

Pirate senior Nick Lovett was edged at second singles 6-4, 6-4.

Bluffton senior Grady Coonfare and senior Isaiah Kohli lost at first doubles 6-0, 6-3.

Extended recovery unit residents are those who have exited acute care but still need a variety of recovery care and support in the health center setting. 

FROM THE BEAVER ECHO__The 2026 Beaverdam School Reunion will be ehld on Saturday, May 2 at the Swiss Heritage Center at Schumacher Homestead, 8350 Bixel Rd., Bluffton.

The event will begin with an optional tour of the Schumacher farmhouse from 3:30-5:00 p.m. Heritage Center doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Reservations are due by April 20. Send $25/person or donations to Jackie Hughes, 8054 Township Rd. 89, Findlay, OH 45840. 

There will be door prizes and 50/50 tickets sold at the event.
