On Friday, Sept. 23, the Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) executive board will conduct a public annual meeting at 7:30

a.m. on the third floor of the Bluffton Town Hall.

Preceded by a catered breakfast, the meeting's agenda will include a summary of 2010 including a financial report and client summary. The board will also elect new officers for board.

BCE board president Brendon Matthews reports that the BCE is
celebrating three full years of providing solutions and support to
local entrepreneurs.

On Sunday, Sept. 18 at 8 p.m. a prayer service will be held at English Lutheran Church simultaneously with one at Living Word Lutheran Church in Buda, Texas, according to Rev. Kevin Mohr, pastor of English Lutheran.

Nearly the entire state of Texas and most of Oklahoma is experiencing the worst prolonged drought in recorded history for that area. The community of Buda, Texas is gathering together at Living Word Lutheran Church at 7 p.m. ( 8 p.m. Eastern Time) to pray for an end to the drought.

The following births were reported at the Bluffton Hospital since Aug. 30.

Aug. 30 - Isaiah Noel, son of Sabina Willela and Martrenis Chitman, Leipsic, 19 inches, 6 pounds, 5 ounces.

Sept. 2 - Samantha Emery, daughter of Emily and Andrew Emery, Ada, 20 1.2 inches, 8 pounds, 8 ounces.

Sept. 4 - Ethan Isaiah Cellar, son of Michael Cellar and Stacey Westrick, Leipsic, 20 inches, 7 pounds, 7 ounces.

Sept. 5 - Hilda Sylvia Wheatley McDonnell, daughter of Bryan and Heather McDonnell, Findlay, 20 inches, 9 pounds, 3 ounces.

Diann and Alan Yoder

Dr. Alan and Diann Yoder, 174 Sunset Dr., Bluffton, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Sept. 17.

The couple was married Sept. 17, 1961, at First Mennonite Church, Berne, Ind., by Rev. John Sprunger.

Diann graduated from Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing, Ft. Wayne, Ind., in 1961. She retired from nursing at Bluffton Hospital and at Family Eye Care Clinic, Bluffton. Alan graduated from Indiana University School of Optometry, Bloomington, Ind., in 1965. He is an optometrist at Family Eye Care Clinic, 107 N. Main St., Bluffton.

The Bluffton Community Swimming Pool operated with a deficit of $12,553 in 2011, although, as Dave Steiner, council member said, after hearing the report, that the pool is still a good investment for the community.

This year the pool had revenue of $57,746 and expenses of $70,300, according to Nancy Kindle, village fiscal officer. She said that this year's report many appear better than previous years because of some accounting changes made.

"This report shows the true cost it takes to operate the pool," she said.

The winner of the College Football Contest for week 2 is Joel Groman. Joel and Brad Smith both accumulated 10 points and Joel won by virtue of the first tie-breaker by picking Michigan to win by 1-7 points while Brad picked Michigan to win by 8 or more.
