Bluffton University decorated its Welcome Center on Spring Street with Christmas lights for the first time ever this year. The display, intended to be an annual tradition, showcases the Houshower House on campus.
The Bluffton University men's basketball team won a nail-biter in a double-overtime thriller on the road against the Earlham College Quakers, 82-80, on Wednesday, Dec. 5. Four Beavers notched double digits in the victory. Junior Andrew Renner (Cairo/Bath) hit a shot with two seconds on the clock in the second overtime which propelled the Beavers to victory. Bluffton improved to 5-2 and 1-1 in the Heartland Conference. Earlham fell to 1-6 and 0-2 in the HCAC.’
Bob Painter, who for the past 15 years has served as assistant director of the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center, is retiring, according to Tonya Meyer, director.
The Center will recognize Painter for his years at the center with a retirement party from 1 to 3 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 27. The party, open to the public, takes place at the Senior Center, 132 N. Main St.
Bluffton University has named Logan Wells as head cross country coach and assistant track and field coach. Wells comes to Bluffton with two years of collegiate coaching experience at Hanover College and Otterbein University. He also served as a volunteer assistant coach at Federal Hocking High School in Stewart, Ohio.
The Bluffton University track and field team kicked off the 2018-19 season with several great performances at the Tiffin Alumni Open on Saturday, Dec. 1.
Starting on the ladies side, junior Tori Bowen (Wapakoneta/Elida) began her conference title defense in the pole vault with a second-place finish at the season-opener, clearing 3.42 meters.
