Two judges from America in Bloom will visit Bluffton on July 19-20 to evaluate our town. They will judge Bluffton on several categories.
The first major step to turn an unused Main Street alley into a green space is underway. Earlier this spring Bluffton council put into motion the transformation of the alley located between the Presbyterian Church and the Shannon and Gary Reese building. Ruth Katherine Unrau, 96, died June 20, 2018, at the Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Ruth was born Feb. 28, 1922, in Kouts, Indiana, to the late Alpha and Martha (Zook) Baughman. On Aug. 1, 1953, she married Walter D. Unrau and he preceded her in death on Jan. 8, 2005. On Feb. 26, 2012, she married Bob Flick and he survives in Bluffton.
Ruth was a well-known and published writer and poet who thoroughly enjoyed writing and reading. She started Book Reviews in Bluffton and was a member of First Mennonite Church in Bluffton.
The next meeting of the Bluffton Lions Club is a picnic at 6 p.m., Sunday, July 10, at Twin Lakes Campgrounds. Following that the Lions will host the Bluffton Ride to Remember on Saturday, July 14.

There's still time to sign-up youth for Bluffton Family Recreation summer T-Ball, according to Daniel Tinch, BFR executive director.
T-ball is open to youth ages 5, 6 and 7. Games are played at 6 and 7 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays at the Bluffton village park from July 10 to Aug. 9. The cost per player is $30 for BFR members and $60 for non-members. The registration includes a t-shirt.
