Betty Moser is the winner of a quilt raffle project conducted by St. John's United Church of Christ. The drawing was held on Jan. 2 and the proceeds from the raffle will go toward local missions.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - Senior Macey Sheerer (Bucyrus) has been named the Heartland Conference Player of the Week for her work over the holidays. She led the Beavers to a 2-1 mark, including wins at John Carroll and over Alma before a slim loss to #4 Hope College in the McDonald's Tournament.
Sheerer hit 16-of-41 (47.1 percent) from the field while averaging 17.0 PPG and 8.7 RPG. She went 4-of-10 from
deep and 15-of-19 (78.9 percent) at the stripe. Sheerer added eight assists and four steals for the Beavers.
BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University women's basketball team dropped its first Heartland Conference game of the season to Transylvania on a brutally cold Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2018. The temperature inside wasn't much better as Transy held on for a 64-59 victory in the makeup from Saturday, Dec. 2. Bluffton fell to 8-3 and 3-1 in the HCAC following a second straight setback, while the Pioneers improved to 7-4 and 2-2 in the conference.
Nancy Jean Parrish, 60, died Jan. 2, 2018, at Bluffton Hospital Emergency Room. Nancy was born Jan. 23, 1957, in Bluffton, Ohio to the late William and Marilyn (Moore) Hart. On Aug. 24, 1987, she married Mike Parrish who survives.
Nancy graduated from Bluffton High School. She was a homemaker and also had worked as a nurse’s aide.
Survivors also include a brother, William (Karen) Hart of Stevensville, Michigan, and several nieces and nephews.
Nancy was preceded in death by a sister, Catherine Hart.
