Bluffton HS girls’ softball team lost a Northwest Conference game to Lincolnview 2-0. Following the loss, BHS stood at 12-6 (3-5) and Lincolnview moved to 6-7 (3-4).

A Youth Art Lesson presented by Janette Reineke will be held on May 25 at 3:30 p.m.

This program is open to ages 11-13, and the supply fee is $8 (cash only) at the door. 

Kids will explore Picasso’s cubism technique and walk away with their very own mask.

Advance registration is required. Please register with the library by May 22.

For the last two years, St. Rita’s has sponsored BFR’s winter “Keeping Active” program. On Wednesday, May 10, at 3:30 p.m. the two organizations will come together again to showcase the new indoor turf at BFR.

St. Rita’s was the lead contributor for this project.

Bluffton University commencement weekend in pictures

It is one of the Bluffton community’s long-standing events - Bluffton University May Day and commencement. This year is number 117.

The tradition includes a musical, class reunions, May pole dance, king and queen coronation, art exhibits, a May Day run and walk, campus tours, a recital, baccalaureate service and graduation ceremony.

The university provided the Icon with this set of photographs showing the many weekend aspects.

The Bluffton Friends of the Library's  spring used book sale runs from 5 p.m., Wednesday, May 10, through 1 p.m., Saturday, May 13. Books are on sale in the library's lower level. All proceeds go to support library programs such as summer read, children's read, staff education and assisting in equipment purchase. This photo is from last fall's sale.

All proceeds going to Owen Weaver - small town hero

Spectrum Salon, 442 N. Main St., Bluffton, is holding an apparel and accessory tag sale on Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, according to Mandy Kinn, owner.

"All proceeds will go to Owen Weaver and his family!" she said. 

The Icon encourages viewers to support an “Owen Weaver Small Town Super Hero” fundraiser going on this month. Several businesses are actively involved.
