Kaitlynn King, 2016 Bluffton High School graduate, has been awarded a Lourdes University, Sylvania, Presidential Scholarship valued at $32,000 for use over four years.

She is the daughter of Amy King of Bluffton and Alan King of Columbus. She is pursuing a bachelor of arts degree in social work. She also was on the Lourdes’ dean’s list for the semester recently completed.

103 theft reports made

Bluffton police were busy in 2016. The year-end monthly report of calls for service shows the Bluffton department handed over 4,000 calls.

The greatest number of police activities involved building checks. Those were over 500. Several other items were also high on the list of police activities.

Among those were 198 complaint call follow-ups, 400 vehicle investigations, 172 burglar alarms, 103 theft reports, 18 breaking and entering reports, 34 criminal damaging reports and 20 domestic reports.

In 2016 Bluffton Icon viewers clicked on over 1 million pages on the website. To be exact: 1,046,854 pages.

On June 2 the Icon experienced 4,415 viewers, which was the largest number of viewers in a single day in 2016.

Evan McBeath, MD has formed ENT Specialists of Northwest Ohio, part of Blanchard Valley Medical Practices. The office is located at 1816 Chapel Drive, Suite G in Findlay. Dr. McBeath provides comprehensive ear, nose and throat care including head and neck surgery, thyroid and parathyroid surgery, ear and hearing surgery, sinus surgery, pediatric otolaryngology, and sleep and snoring surgery (including robotic surgery).

Transition Bluffton will be hosting a talk on energy efficiency and alternative/renewable energy sources by Dan Klear, owner of Superior Energy Solutions, Ottawa. The event is Tuesday, Jan. 17, at 7 p.m. in the Community Room on the third floor of Bluffton town hall.
