If approved by council police will add levels for lieutenant and corporal

Bluffton council will act on legislation on Monday created a new rank structure for the village police department.

Currently the department operates with a chief and a sergeant. All other police department members are officers.

The new structure, to be acted upon as an emergency ordinance – meaning passage required one read and the ordinance takes effect immediately - calls for the following structure:

Village anticipates general fund balance on 12-31-17 at $2.4 million

Bluffton council is expected to pass its 2017 appropriations on Monday.

It projects $2,780,429 in the general funds on Jan. 1. Anticipated 2017 revenue totals  $2,493,446 and anticipated expenses totals $1,902,657. With $912,000 in anticipated transfers next year it is anticipated the village general fund balance on Dec. 31, 2017, will be $2,459,218.

There are several other items on Monday’s agenda, which is the final regularly scheduled council meeting of 2016.

The pool was on the east side of the Buckeye. It is included a bath house, baby pool, larger pool going to 5 or 6 feet, and the Buckeye quarry for persons who could pass a swim test. The Buckeye had three diving boards.

Luke Denecker leads BHS with 16 points

Bluffton High School boys' basketball team won its first game of the season, stopping McComb 66-51 Saturday night on the road.

Luke Denecker lead the Pirates with 16 points. BHS is 1-4 overall. McComb is 1-1.
