Tickets are available for the 2016-17 Artist Series at Bluffton University. The season features five performances including a reed quintet, an international piano trio, a jazz composer, a Celtic duo and a one-act play. The Thursday performances begin at 7:30 p.m. in Bluffton University’s Yoder Recital Hall.
Akropolis, a reed quintet that incorporates adventure and innovation into each performance, will start the season on Sept. 22. Founded in 2009, the group has earned various musical and educational awards while creating a style of their own.

Last year’s inaugural ride attracted 100 bikers to Bluffton. This year hopes to have more riders, plus activities for the community.
A women’s self-defense class is the latest program offered by Bluffton Family Recreation, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director.
The class takes place at 6 p.m., Thursday, July 21, at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton. Rick Stoermer is the instructor. The class last approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes.
Class objectives include:
• Building self-confidence
• Mental awareness
• Strike points of the body
• Common items as weapons
Eric Faulkner was recently promoted to senior vice president, business banking officer, at Citizens National Bank.
In this position, he is responsible for running the bank’s loan participation program as well as building and maintaining a commercial and agricultural loan portfolio in the Columbus and Springfield markets.
Faulkner received his Bachelor of Science in marketing as well as his Master of Business Administration from Wheeling Jesuit University in Wheeling, West Virginia.
