Basketball is here!

The Bluffton McDonald’s Girls’ Basketball Holiday Tournament is Friday and Saturday, Nov. 23-24, at Bluffton High School.

The Bluffton McDonald’s Boys’ Basketball Holiday Tournament is Friday and Saturday, Dec. 28 and 29.

Girls’ tourney
Nov. 23 - 6 p.m.  – Allen East vs. Arlington
Nov. 23 – second game – Bluffton vs. Cory-Rawson
Nov. 24 -  consolation game – 6 p.m.
Nov. 24 -  title game, 20 minutes after conclusion of consolation game

All tickets are $5.

Bluffton’s Community Assistance Program needs some emergency Christmas assistance, according to its two news co-directors, Jami Crawfis and Sarah Shank.

“We have a record number of families signed up to be ‘adopted’ for Christmas this year,” Crawfis and Shank told The Icon.

“We are getting a little bit nervous because we are down to only a month until the gifts and groceries are picked up and we still have over 15 to adopt out,” they said.

In fact, five new families signed up to be adopted last week.

Bluffton celebrates a Victorian Christmas through this year's Blaze of Lights theme. Terry Mullenhour, chair of the Bluffton Cultural Affairs Committee, created this new cutout, which is now part of the Ream holiday folk art display.

ArtSpace/Lima and DeHaven Home and Garden Showplace will present  "Jazz at the Greenhouse" featuring Kick-n-Flava on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 8 p.m. -11 p.m.  Doors open at 7:30 pm.

 

Jazz at the Greenhouse will feature, in addition to the music, a cash bar, free hors d’oeuvres, dancing, a raffle, and door prizes.  The Greenhouse will be elaborately done up with holiday decorations.

Tickets are $20.00 in advance or $25 at the door and may be purchased at ArtSpace/Lima

Duane Bollenbacher is the winner of Week 3 of The Icon Football Contest 2. He was declared the winner after Tie-Breaker #1 when he correctly picked Ohio State to win by 4-7 points.
